Science Cafe

The Science, Ethics, and Public Policy Program and the UD Philosophy Department sponsor and coordinate informal discussions of cutting-edge research at venues near the UD campus.  Each discussion features a science or engineering faculty member who explains his or her research in sufficiently non-technical terms so as to facilitate discussion and improve the public understanding of science.  The intended audiences are students, faculty, and the general community.  The presenters will be asked to focus the presentation, without aid of instructional technology, on the following:

What are the basic processes of data production and analysis?

From what more general scientific theories does this research stem?

What are the likely benefits (technologies, therapies, knowledge, etc.) that could come from this research?

Does this research contribute to (or benefit from) a body of knowledge in another scientific discipline?
